Tamiya presents the 1:10 R/C Porsche 956 – A Racing Legend Reimagined

The Porsche 956, a sports prototype car developed for the Group C regulations of the 1982 World Endurance Championship, quickly made its mark by securing both the Manufacturer’s and Driver’s Championships that year. This R/C assembly kit faithfully recreates the 1983 Le Mans version of the Porsche 956, which claimed victory in all seven races.

About the Model:

  • Scale: 1:10 R/C assembly kit. Dimensions: Length 483mm, Width 207mm, Height 108mm. Wheelbase: 270mm.
  • Body: Features a distinctive long-tail design with separately molded polycarbonate parts for the body, front and rear light cases, and wing. (Note: LED lights cannot be attached.)
  • Details: Black ABS plastic parts replicate the side mirrors and wing stays with impressive accuracy.

Design:

  • Shares the composite chassis design used in the 1:10 R/C 1990 Mercedes-Benz C 11 (Item 47484).
  • Built around an ABS plastic bathtub with front and rear space frames and FRP plates for enhanced rigidity.
  • Suspension provides a responsive, crisp drive, supported by a fluid design.

Motor & Drive:

  • Powered by a Sport-Tuned motor with a direct drive setup featuring the spur gear next to the ball differential.

Suspension:

  • Front: Independent coil-sprung kingpin suspension.
  • Rear: Rigid 3-point design with a 1.5mm FRP T-bar and CVA oil damper.
  • Adjustable ground clearance: 2 settings for the front and 3 settings for the rear to suit various surfaces.

Wheels & Tires Configuration:

  • Front: Dish wheels.
  • Rear: 5-spoke wheels.
  • Both are paired with high-grip sponge tires for superior performance. (Wheels require painting.)
