Description
1:72 Tiger II Ausf. B Revell 03129
A detailed plastic model kit of a tank for self-assembly.
Developed in 1943, the "Tiger" II, unofficially known as the "King Tiger," went into series production at Henschel starting in 1944. The "King Tiger" excellently combined the demands for armor protection and firepower. The front armor, up to 150 mm thick, could not be penetrated by any projectiles from the onboard cannons of enemy tanks.
The hull sides were armored up to 80 mm thick. Despite several massive bombing raids by the Allies on the Henschel plant in Kassel, a total of 492 "Tiger" II tanks, including prototypes and 50 vehicles equipped with the "Porsche turret," were delivered to the troops. However, not all of them reached the front lines. A large number of "Tiger" II tanks were lost due to drive problems resulting from the high overall weight or simply due to fuel shortages.
