In the 1960s, Mercedes-Benz began developing a series of sports cars distinguished by high performance and exquisite detail to cater to the growing luxury segment. The abbreviation SL, for "Sport" and "Light," became a hallmark for the various models developed and launched over the years. In the 1970s, the German automaker introduced the R107 and C107 series, which achieved great commercial success as both roadsters and coupes. From the C107 series emerged the top model SLC 500, which was produced for nearly a decade. With a 4,973 cm³ engine and a power output of 237 horsepower, the Mercedes SLC 500 set new standards in the premium segment. Iconic models like this one defined the automotive market in the 1970s, and to this day they remain the dream of many collectors and enthusiasts of historic vehicles.
